We are a for-profit farm which gives away as much of the proceeds of our
farm to those in need as we possibly can.
Our business is charity.
God’s Little Acre operates a for-profit farm and market. It is our goal to grow and sell as much produce as necessary to pay all expenses and maximize the growing ability of the land in order to be in a position to give away all proceeds, after expenses, to those in need.
The farm is owned and managed by Jas Singh. As we are a for-profit business, some of the produce grown is sold to wholesalers, the money is used to purchase farm equipment, seeds or other fresh produce for the farm market. The market is open to the public and it is the farm’s intent to maximize farm profits by selling a variety of fruit and veggies that people wish to purchase. The money the market makes is used to pay staff and other household expenses.
All proceeds, after expenses, are used to donate food to those in need. We are not a charity, in that we do not have a B.C. charity number and therefore cannot issue receipts for donations however donations are gratefully accepted and are always used as designated by the giver.
As we are a not a registered charity, we do not have a board of directors nor are we required to show our financial statements to anyone however if you have questions please don’t hesitate to ask. It is our intention to be open and transparent.
People come and volunteer to work on the farm for a number of reasons. Some come because they love being able to dig into the dirt with their bare hands, some come because they see the lbs. of food that we give away and they like being part of a community initiative to feed our neighbours, still others come to get food and want to give something back. If you or your corporate group are interested in donating or volunteering at the farm please contact us. We would love to have you.
If you or someone you know needs food, or an organization that you know could use our assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. We are always looking for those in need and are happy to help. To see where and how much food is currently being donated, please go to our website.
We give freely to anyone who is hungry. Unlike other organizations, we don’t believe in putting barriers to people in need. They don’t have to register or line up or sign up or beg. We don’t do back ground checks or require addresses or anything. If they need food, we give food. It is a grass roots, old-fashioned, neighbourly act of kindness and caring from one human being to another. It is really that simple.
